Ansleigh's newest interest is coloring and drawing. She will sit and draw pictures with her 'colors' very patiently for quite some time. Recently, we went to Fog Willow Farm on a field trip with her preschool class. While at the farm we saw baby animals...in particular, a pig, a baby chick and a lamb. Ansleigh came home and drew a great picture of the girl at the farm holding the baby pig and another great picture of a baby chick. SO cute....she really loves to draw and has a good memory. She is able to draw things from her memory without having to see it again. She's our little artsy girl! :)

Ashlyn and Avynlea love to look at the Dora the Explorer Look and Find book. You are supposed to find different objects in the pictures...Avynlea used to just copy whatever Ashlyn did. But now, if you ask where certain things are, she can look around and find them! She is VERY proud of herself when she does this...it doesn't hurt that we all clap our hands and say "Yeah, Avynlea!!!!"

Ashlyn has a great role model in Ansleigh. She sees all of the things that Ansleigh has learned to do in preschool and tried to copy them herself. One of these things is coloring with crayons. She can hold pencils, pens and crayons the "right" way and even though she cannot yet color in the lines, she does very well with staying within certain 'borders'. For example, if she were to color a circle, the circle would be completely filled in but the coloring would go just beyond the line of the circle. She is doing great with her fine motor skills!

Ashlyn Grace is such a little helper! She loves to help in the kitchen....especially if I am making pancakes! Ashlyn likes to sit up on the counter and stir up the batter, making sure that there are no lumps! She is very good at stirring carefully so that nothing gets spilled. Another favorite for Ashlyn is to pour things into pots. If we are making soup or macaroni and cheese, Ashlyn loooooves to pour the contents into the pot before it goes on the stove.

(June 2005) Ansleigh is a flip-flop kind of girl....just like her Momma! She has a favorite pair of Roxy Flip Flops that she will wear with everything. I had no idea that such a little girl would have such a strong opinion, already, about the shoes that she wears. Anyhow, as far as hopping on both feet goes....she hops all over the place in those little Roxy's. A very happy little girl, indeed!

Avynlea has shown the same artistic inclinations that her sister Ashlyn did at this age....meaning we have scribbles of color on certain walls, doors and drawers.....not to mention the picnic table that is in Ansleigh's room. Avynlea does the best she can to try and "only color on paper" as Mommy says. But it sure is hard for her to resist the temptation to see what the wall might look like with a little splash or red! :) Thank goodness for the Mr. Clean scrubbing sponge!
